Shout Out

I am attempting something never before attempted by these hands. Making an actual article of clothing. I know. The last time I attempted this, was in Home Ec. with Mrs. Winder. You know who I'm talking about!! I made a royal blue long sleeve sweatshirt! Hot, I know. Anywho, if we wore the sweatshirt throughout the school day, we would recieve extra credit. Let's just say, I was just fine with a B+ and didn't feel the need to humiliate myself any further than my glasses, braces and extreme paleness already had. Enough said. I didn't have a great feeling for sewing. Well, times change, I grew up, got lasik surgery, my teeth are a bit straighter and I, actually, for a white girl, am not so bad!! Just kidding. But, I felt the urge to be crafty and homemakerey. (what?) So, I am attempting to make flannel pajama pants for my kids for Christmas. Well, after the nauseau subsided and my palms stopped sweating, I got to work. It took me less than an hour and VOILA!!!

Cole is the proud new owner (come Christmas Eve) of a pair of froggy pj pants. Not to shabby if I do say so myself!! Sorry for the horribly scary picture, but it had to be documented. We (me and my large chin zit) had a pretty good time doing this! My mom was right, there I said it! I would actually one day WANT to learn how to sew!! Who knew?
What's that behind me, you say? That, my friends, is the world's first electric sewing machine. I'm actually not kidding, it's probbably pretty close! It was given to me by Ross' great aunt Miriam (sis). I would just like to thank Sis, for her thoughtfulness, and forward thinking. I was given this when I was probbably 21. I kind of shrugged it off and put it in the storage room. Only to be pulled out for the occassional patch to be sewn on Ross' uniform, definitley not to fix anything!! So, I would just like to send a shout out to Sis. Thanks for your sewing machine, I definitley felt a connection to her while I was working today, she was a special lady. Very talented and created many wonderful works of art with this machine. I feel very lucky to have it!! Now, if I can keep from breaking it. I'm fairly sure they stopped making replacement parts for it shortly after the end of the Civil War!! Thanks, Sis!!
