Fall Festival

Boy we're festive this year. I feel like we've been celebrating Halloween for a month now! Whew. Tonight was the kids annual fall festival at their school. They always do a great job, they do food and games and a spook alley and trunk or treating, which I had never done before, but I think I'm a fan. I handed out 550 pieces of bubble gum in a matter of mere moments, while Cole sat in his car seat and watched Jungle Book. It's a beautiful thing.

We had a great time, the kids ate tons of crap and will probbably be sick tomorrow. Tis the season! But, they looked cute and the school raised some money for whatever schools raise money for, and I was helping out, what more can you ask for, right?

My verrrrry handsome vampire

What a cute little skunk. Too bad the actual costume lasted about 45 seconds.

Sassy little witch. I can say that, she's my daughter!! My don't those cookies look familiar. I swear, if I have to frost another cookie and make it look like a jack o lantern, I'll probbably scream, and then eat it!!! Kennedy and her WoNderFuL teacher, Mrs. Nielson and her husband. They looked adorable and she's the best ever! We're going to miss her when she goes on maternity leave!!

Kennedy and Louis and their good friends Sacoya and Beau

Kennedy and Louis doing the cake walk. Louis won and picked the cookie we brought, weirdo!
Kennedy, enjoying her extra healthy cotton candy.
Louis, showing me his prize! That's not ketchup on his cheek, it's blood. Duh, he's a vampire!! He he.

So, we were there for quite a while waiting for the trunk or treating to start, we had a little down time and you know what down time does to a baby....

Poor kid. Seriously, where's his mother. After about an hour, he lost it. Can't tell, can ya'?

Our Fall Tradition

I love fall. I love cookies. I LOVE sugar cookies. Put that together, what do you have. Our fall tradition. I usually do this over conference weekend, but that was the weekend that my wonderful husband surprised me with our weekend away. So, we did it today. I love to make a huge batch and get them all decorated and let the kids pick some friends and take them to them. Now, if you only knew how hard it was for me to let me let my kids help decorate cookies. Yikes. I have some severe issues with control, I know. So, to just let them have at it and just spread the frosting all willy nilly and drip and smoosh, it makes me twitch. Oh well, sometimes you gotta just let go and let them have fun!

They had a great time. Seeing their smiles made my twitching worth it!

What was Cole doing this whole time? Just being cute.

Something funky happened with the frosting this time, it looked weird but tasted just fine. They turned out pretty cute I think. And boy did they taste great! Until next fall...

My Friend's New Store

If you have a minute, check out my friend's new store. It's on Etsy. She sells the cutest little girl stuff! Tutus, bows, aprons, purses and those headbands I really like, she made her version of them. It's the black and white one at the bottom of the page. Anyway, it is called Stuff4littlegirls the link is on my sidebar or just click here.

Side Note

By the way, Kennedy's class won! They get a pizza party on Monday. I can definitley say I did my part!!

Red Ribbon Week

Well, this week is Red Ribbon Week at the kids school. They have been having a lot of fun this week doing lots of activities and learning a lot! Their theme this year is "I elect to be drug free" so they are mixing learning about the election process, voting and learning a lot about the candidates along with the desire to be drug free. I love that. My kids came home the other day with a sheet that gives them the opportunity to "vote" in a mock election online. I think that is the coolest idea. We talk about it a lot. They ask me questions and I try to answer them the best that I can. I'll be honest, I'm not up on who I should vote for for county treasurer or even some of the representatives, but I try to tell them what I know and have them form their own opinions. Of course they are swayed by our thoughts and ideas, but the fact that at school it gives them the opportunity to know that what they think matters. That's huge to me. Hopefully I am raising some politically aware little farts. Let's hope so...
Wow, that was kind of deep. Now, for the fun stuff. Today was wear as much red as you can day. Well...don't challenge me. I'll show you. Whichever class is the most "red" today gets a pizza party. So.....

I mean, really could she BE wearing any more red? (If you don't watch friends, that was funny, trust me!!)

Ross was a little leary of the whole wearing pajamas to school thing, he said "well, don't get him beat up!" I think he looks cute!!! Right? You'd let your kid wear this to school, too, right? right?
He is terribly proud of his red mohawk. Seriously, it doesn't take much to impress this kid. A red mohawk and a piece of cake in his lunchbox, I won't have to buy this kid anything for Christmas. He's set!!
Just a quick story about red ribbon week. The kids were talking with Trey, the little boy we carpool with, on the way home from school on Tuesday. They were commenting that if they wore their red ribbon all week, they get a prize at the end of the week. Well, Kennedy, very nobley(?) says "I'm not wearing it for the prize, I'm wearing it to show that I want to be drug free and to show everyone that." Louis laughs and says, " I'm totally wearing it for the prize!" You gotta love honesty!!

Halloween Goodness

So, we had the annual Olsen family halloween party! We had it at my SIL Carey's house. A good time was had by all. We had good food, good company and fun games. The cousins all love to get together and have a good time. And of course, the dice game. Jess, you kill me. But, it's like they say, Go Big or Go Home! Jess definitley goes big!!! Ha ha! So, enough talk, here's the good stuff....

How can you not be a happy chick, when you are married to this???

So, here's my family. I decided not to dress up this year, Louis is a vampire, Kennedy is a witch, Cole is a stinky skunk, and Ross is the FABULOUS Richard Simmons!! He is such a good sport. He seriously is, what guy would wear sequins, pink shorty shorts, leg warmers and an afro wig. Love ya' babe!!

Here's all of the Olsen grandkids. Pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Kennedy killin' it in the pumpkin bowling tournament.

The one'n'only vampire bowling association leader. I think he forgot to roll it. He chucked that bad boy. But, maybe that's how they do it in the VBA!!

Cole, with candy corn smudged all over his face. The kids were playing Halloween Bingo using candy corn for their markers. Whenever someone wasn't looking, Cole would walk by and snag a few. The poor kids' never had so much sugar. He was jittery and loopy all night long!!

Yabba Dabba DOOOO!

The kiddos playing bingo, with "Boompa", supergirl, Wilma and "G" funk.

A little witch additude

Super Doug

Another nice shot of Wilma and "G" funk!

This was a nice little surprise left on my camera. Thanks Carey, you're so photogenic!!

Anywho, good times! Thanks Doug and Carey (not Heffernon) for the place and the good time. Thanks mom for the treasure hunt, thanks Mer and Whit for the fun games. We had a great time. Until next time, keep sweatin' to the oldies!!

Hail To The Queen

So, I'm officially the worst mom EVER! Kennedy was the Queen of the jungle in her class this week. And I didn't take any pictures. She was on cloud 9 all week. Being the center of attention is kind of her thing. You know what I mean? She got to do all sorts of fun things, help the teacher, be in charge of the class and kind of just be "special"! I got to go in on Friday morning and brag about her and talk to her class about her. She had a really fun week and is sad to just be "normal" next week. Oh to be the queen...

Woo Hoo

Hallelujiah! It's finally come and gone. Kennedy finally got to go see hsm 3. (Finally! It just opened yesterday) Now, maybe I can stop hearing about it. Probbably not. Any who. She laughed, she cried, she danced, she sang. All the wonderful things she was expecting from this wonderful movie. Disney, you've done your job. Thank you. We can all sleep a little better tonight!

She was lucky enough to get invited to a birthday party where they went to see it today! She was so excited and had a great time. I'm excited too. I didn't "get" to go. Oh well, maybe next time.

I swear...

So, as I'm dropping the kids off at school this morning. I always kiss them and tell them to have a good day, make good choices, be kind to everyone etc.... Well, Louis bypasses all that and just kisses me on the cheek and says " See ya' later toots". What the crap?

SURPRISE!

Last week Ross' mother had a birthday. She was going to be out of town for it, so we decided to invite her over last night for dinner to celebrate. Little did she know, we had planned a little surprise party for her. We invited her good friends and we had soup and cornbread for dinner and pie, cake and ice cream for dinner. It really was a nice time and she was actually surprised!! Thanks everyone for not spilling the beans! Happy Birthday Linda, hope you had fun!

Our dinner guests. From L to R: Cole, Don, Anne, Kathie, DeAnne, Bob, Peter and the birthday girl Linda!

The kiddos got banished to the hallway to eat. Sorry! We didn't have enough chairs!!

Opening her gifts

The birthday cake I made for her! If you don't know what a red-hat lady is, look it up!!

Funny Moment

Usually I blog about funny things Louis says. Today, I have a quick and short, but funny thing Ross said. Ross actually says funny things all the time, but most of them are not PG rated or even PG-13 rated, so they don't make it here!! Oh well.

This morning Ross' alarm went off at 4:30 for him to wake up and go to the gym. He rolls over and hits the snooze button and says "you know what? I have a soft spot in my heart for the snooze button." And went back to sleep. If I had been even semi-conscious I would have been laughing hysterically. But when I woke up, it really was funny. Thanks for the early morning giggle, babe!

Pumpkinland

Well, it was Saturday, mom didn't have to work (!!!), dad needed to sleep for work that night, and we were headed to Orem anyway. What does that mean? Let's hit Pumpkinland, of course. So, we did. In all of it's glory and freakin' sweatiness. I thought it was fall, silly me. So, we actually wore long sleeved shirts, and can you believe it, pants. What were we thinking? We were sweating like crazy. By the time we made all the wrong turns (stupid corn maze) and did all the bounce houses (please pass the hand sanatizer) and played on the playground (thank heavens for one lone folding chair and the shade of a port-a-potty), we had had just about enough fun for one afternoon. So, we headed in to buy our pumpkins. Good thing the kids are easily impressed and it doesn't take much to excite them. They had a fabulous time and I'm just happy they're happy, right. Now for that port-a-potty smell, any laundry tricks to get it out of my jeans? :)
Sissy and Cole playing on the playground. Pay no attention to the extra large sunglasses. Some fights just aren't worth it!!!

This kid is so awesome, he is such a good sport. He just sat in his stroller the whole time, playing with my bracelet. What a cutie!

The kiddos outside the corn maze

Kennedy, posing. Huh, she never does that.

Lou, stopping just long enough for a quick pic.

A fun time was had by all.

After a fun afternoon of sweat and pumpkins, their grandma Linda took them to see Hotel Frankenstein. He husband (Ross' step-dad) plays Dr. Frankenstein and apparently it is quite the show. I have never seen it, but the kids had a ball. Thanks Grandma Linda for the fun time, the kids loved it. I, however, had a few spare hours. So, I called my parents, we went to dinner and talked and then went back to their house and did a bunch more talking. I really enjoyed it. We haven't had a chance to just hang out and catch up for a very long time, without kids. It was a nice, quiet enjoyable evening. So, all in all a fairly productive Saturday. What am I still doing awake? I have some serious sleep to be gettin'. I'm outta here!

Fashion Forward

Here at the Williams household, we like to think that we are incredibly fashion forward. We live in the now. We are fashion. There are a few new rules for fall that you may have missed. We'd just like to fill you in.

Layering is all the rage. Definitley layer your dad's t-shirt with camo pajama pants. Throw in a too big baseball cap and some old sunglasses, and you will be the hit of your 1st grade class.

Accessories are all the rage. Toothbrushes, lunchboxes and butterfly headbands. What else can I say. Pile it on baby!!

More is definitley more. If you think you have too many things on, add a few more. It will probbably be just about right. And you definitley have to have a pose. Try a zoolander look or find one of your own.

Well, aren't you glad we are here to guide you through your fashion questions and problems. IF you need our help, we are here for you!!

Just 'Cause she's cute

I was just getting Kennedy ready this morning and thought she looked really cute, so I took her picture. See, you can make uniforms look cute!!

Toothless Joe

So, I promise I won't blog about every tooth this kid looses, but this one was kind of funny. His two front top teeth have been disgustingly loose for like a month now. UGH! That is one of my funny things. Loose teeth is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me....So, I have to get them out and get them out now!!! So, I've been trying to get him to let me pull them forever but No! His dad asks and sure. Well, after 20 minutes of Ross trying with a paper towel to pull it out (What??) I finally said, let me just try once. First try with the magical dental floss technique and voila!! Just one more try and let's see if we can get the other one. Voila! I definitley have the tooth pulling magic touch. so, if you have any loose teeth at your house, just send 'em my way. Just kidding I would probbably throw up. It was all I could do not to loose it with Louis. Doesn't he look cute!

Heth thow adorable. I love how they talk when they're missing all their teeth!!

Funny Louis

We were having a conversation over dinner about the tattoo sleeves that Louis wore for rock star day. Ross mentioned that he should wear them to work and that everyone would thing it was funny.

Ross: Well, maybe I shouldn't try, they probbably won't make it over my forearms. They'll probbably break.

Louis: (laughing hysterically) Daddy!! You don't have four arms!!

He's so funny.

Tonight, just barely, Louis was totally serious and sincere. He leans over to me and says:

Louis: Mom, do you have any black heads?

Me: No, dude. I'm good. (not really paying attention)

Louis: Well, if you do, I saw this thing on t.v. that's great for getting rid of them.

What? We are in need of a serious t.v. intervention...

Shiver Me Timbers

Aargh me hartys. Alas, today was pirate day. The kidlin's looked adorable and had a blast talking like pirates all morning. Their poor teachers this week. They're probbably ready for some normal children next week! Oh well. Don't they look scary and intimidating. Especially Louis' Pirates of the Carribbean slippers with light up eyes. I'm fairly sure that is authentic pirate garb. Ahoy!

In case you were wondering, that's her pirate face.
